The Summer Bridge Curriculum

From essentials to expertise in 4 weeks

Business has its own way of looking at things, and that’s the first thing you’ll learn at the Tuck Business Bridge Program.

The first week of our intensive curriculum introduces you to essential business terms, tools, and skills. You'll learn about competitive markets, profitability, risk, and business modeling. You will get very familiar with Microsoft Excel as you master the art of creating spreadsheets.

Leadership the smart way
From your first day at Bridge, you’ll notice that there’s a lot of emphasis on teams. It starts with a simple study group, but ultimately you’ll be appraising your fellow students’ skills, divvying up project work, supporting each other, and – the hardest part of all – delegating responsibility. Believe it or not, this is how both Tuck and Bridge teach leadership. A good leader can focus an organization most effectively through collaboration, but first a good leader must be a good collaborator.

During your second week the work gets more focused. Finance, economics, marketing. You’ll get deeper into accounting. We’ll cover some big-picture topics like the global movement of ideas and money. And the intangibles like decision making and problem solving. In marketing, the subjects turn to competition and positioning.

Week 3 moves you into corporate finance where you learn about capital and how it functions in the modern enterprise. You'll handle exercises in budgeting and forecasting. You’ll add to your presentation skills and learn the fundamentals of management communications. Classroom work will focus on strategy and strategic communications as well as business ethics and corporate social responsibility. This week is when you start working on your group valuation project. You and your team start putting into action what you've learned in the previous weeks.

The final week culminates with the presentation of your team project to a panel of industry experts and MBA faculty. It’s a major moment that will stick with you for your entire career.
